Summary: Students are invited to join the speaker in a close reading of selected poems on poetry from English and American poets, including Philip Sidney, Robert Herrick, George Herbert, Emily Dickinson, Wallace Stevens, and Archibald MacLeish, after which a few poems from Tao Yuanming, Xin Qiji and Paul Verlaine will be discussed to demonstrate how the meta-poetic provides a universal attraction in the poet’s exploration of artistic possibilities.
