Summary: India is a multi-faceted, multi-lingual, multi-religious and a multi-cultural country. And among India’s different types of culture is the festival culture of India. Indians celebrate their festivals loudly – with gusto and colors. This lecture will briefly introduce the various festivals that India celebrates and then segue into its two most popular and widely celebrated festivals – Diwali (the festival of lights) and Holi (the festival of colors).The lecture will last between 75-90 minutes. And it will then be opened up to questions from the audience after that.
Speaker Biography: Professor Swaminathan is a writer, filmmaker and academic. She has written multiple books and taught extensively in the United States and India before she came to teach in Shanghai. She currently works in the Journalism Program at SISU.
